Over 6 months, 80 community members each created a patch for a quilt showcasing a major river system biodiversity in Darwin. Featuring native plants and animals, the collaborative artwork celebrated the region’s ecosystem. Adelaide River's biodiversity slow-stitched into a community quilt by more than 80 women

A Northern Territory community created a quilt showcasing the biodiversity of the Adelaide River. Locals contributed designs of native plants and animals, highlighting the region’s ecosystem. The project fostered community engagement, environmental awareness, and artistic collaboration while celebrating the natural beauty of the area.

‘Labour of love’: Quilt stitched by 89 volunteers celebrates mighty NT river

A glorious, three-metre-wide quilt has been created by 89 volunteer “slow stitchers” from various cultural backgrounds living in and around Darwin as a tribute to the rich biodiversity of the Adelaide River which runs through the Northern Territory.
